Hi Lovella,

I haven't noticed any problems. If there is a problem it would probably affect other Wordpress blogs. You can try checking them.

Thanks,
Bill

I had to try two times over the last few days to access your site. Are there problems with hosting? Or is it on my end?

Someone named Miles stopped by to give an argument that was less than compelling as to why homosexuality isn't a sin. You might call it an ad hominem type argument.

There is no cussing allowed on this blog.

Thanks,
Bill

Jerome,

Christianity comes from Christ, not from the Catholic church. We have manuscripts of the Bible that predate Catholocism. You can take a look at http://www.carm.org/questions/textualevidence.htm to find dates of some specific manuscripts. So, to say that without Catholicism "there'd be no Christianity" doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

Thanks for your reply.

The "comment" from Violet Sun was actually a trackback to an article on my site. My point was not that the Bible actually said those things, but instead that fundamentalist Christians have had difficulty interpreting Scripture accurately past and present (something the earth-centric and flat earth theories of yesterday, as well as the "homosexuality is a sin" theory of today illustrates).

In that same post, you made some interesting points that raised further questions for me. I'd appreciate it if you could revisit and clarify - even if that's just to say "I don't know."

As an aside, I also think it's interesting how many fundamentalists don't consider Catholicism "true Christianity." Without the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches, there'd be no Christianity, period...

Chris,

Thanks for your comment, and for checking out my blog. Maybe I didn't word my sentiments properly, but I meant that I don't trust science to help intepret the Bible or for my eternity. Of course I trust science every day. I trust the scientists and engineers at the car companies enought to drive down the interstate at 75 mph. I think atheists are trusting their eternity to science and evolution, and that thought was in the back of my mind as I wrote that comment.

Thanks,
Bill

Woah, careful about that "not trusting science" stuff. Plenty of Christians out there who are scientists. And plenty of good science that helps prove scripture, especially related to archaeology. So perhaps it would be better to say you don't "bad science" :D

Because you're going to end up needing some scientific results to rebuttal someone and they're going to use that against you ;)

Violet Sun,

Thanks for your comment,

The Bible doesn't say the earth is the center of the universe or of the solar system. While some Christians may have believed it, they didn't get it from the Bible. Furthermore, Galileo's and Copernicus' problems were with Catholics, not true Christians.

The Bible says the earth is a sphere in Isaiah 40:22. The Bible is full of scientific truths that people and science have ignored for centuries. Scientists thought that there was only 1100 stars, that all stars were the same, air was weightless, the ocean floor was flat and sick people must be bled. The Bible says there is an incalculable number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22), each star is different (1 Corinthians 15:41), air has weight (Job 28:25), the ocean floor has valleys and mountains (2 Sam 22:16, Jonah 2:6), and blood is the source of life and health (Leviticus 17:22).

So, we all have a choice as to whether we're going to trust men or the Bible. I don't trust Christian men for my eternity or the interpretation of the Bible, and I certainly don't trust science. I trust God and His Word.

Thanks,
Bill
